(Many early records recorded as Pacely because they spelled the name phonetically as it was pronounced.  If I had not been familiar with the early pronunciation I would not have recognized the name so quickly.  They pronounced it Pace-lee.)

He lived “up Wilson Creek” and was buried there.  Well, Wilson Creek runs up into Grayson Co., Va.  So either died in Ashe or very near there, and was very close to Mouth of Wilson, Grayson Co., VA.

3.2.1.8.    Isaac Pasley , b. 1836; m 1st to Jane Senter; m. 2nd to Isabel Ellis .  Isaac Pasley served during the Civil War.  He had five (5) children.

He was a Civil War Veteran.

Will of John Calvin Peasley

In the name of God Amen, I John C. Peasley  of Alleghany County, N.C. aware of the uncertaincy of life think it proper to make my last Will and Testament as follows:

 

  1st.  I devise that all my just debts together with all my funeral expenses be paid out the money that is on hand.

2nd.  I devise that my eldest son Drury C. Peasley have an equal share of my estate subject to some devises herein after named provided he returns home before he is of age and if he should not come home in a short time then I devise to him five dollars.

3rd.  I give to my second son Samuel A. Peasley  my wagon, harness and team over and above his equal part of the balance of my estate.

4th.  I give unto my eldest daughter Mary E. Peasley  twenty-five dollars over and above her equal part of the balance of my estate.

5th.  I devise that the remainder of my estate be equally divided between my six children Viz:  Drury C. Peasley, Samuel A. Peasley , Mary E. Peasley , Martha L. Peasley , Rhoda C. Pasley , Nancy M. Pasley , subject to the devises and conditions as above set forth and lastly I do hereby appoint my friends Wiley Peasley  and C. H. Senter  my lawful Executors to execute this my last Will and Testament to all intents and purposes, Signed sealed and acknowledged in the presence of:

NOTE:  A portrait of him shows up later in the possession of Jessie Carrol (Blevins) Pasley, wife of Glenn Dewey Pasley .  The large photo of Wiley came to her through an inheritance after the death of her father-in-law, John Kenneth Pasley .
