John Peterson , d. 1731, Isle of Wight Co., VA[ii]

From Historical Southern Families, Boddie, Vol I we find:

p. 160   From 1715 until his death in 1731, John Peterson  acquired, by purchase & patent, several thousand acres of land in Isle of Wight Co., later Brunswick, on both sides of the Meherrin River & moved to that section to live in about 1723.  He seems to have resided in what is now Greenville Co., His will, dated 1 Mar 1723, probated 24 Jan 1731, Isle of Wight[iii], mentions sons, John, & Batte; daughters:  Mary Spain , Judith Thweatt  & Ann Thweatt ; grandson John Eppes ; Jeremiah Brown , Burrell Brown , John Smith  & Mathew Parham .

p. 161   Thomas Paterson , son of John , b. ca. 1751; d. 1788.  On Jan 1778 he sold to John Sturdivant  Jr. , 200 acres, in Brunswick Co. “a moiety of a tract of 400 acres, sold by Lewis Parham  to John Peterson ; & devised to Thomas Peterson , by the last Will & Testament of his father John Peterson, dec’d, on record in the County Court of Pr. George.

John & Judith (Peterson) Thweatt  had a son:

4.1.       William Thweatt [xiv], b. 1727[xv]; d. 1763[xvi]; m. to Jane Parham [xvii], daughter of Ephraim  & Rebecca (Unknown) Parham  Jr.
