Thomas Green  I

Thomas Green I , m. Martha Unknown .

They came from England to VA.  During their voyage to VA their son was born and named Thomas, and then nicknamed “The Seagull” because of his birth at sea.

Thomas  & Martha (unknown) Green  I had at least three (3) children:

  1.  Miss Green , b. England ; m. a Blocksom .

  2. Miss Green , b. England ; m. a Eaton .

  3. Thomas Green  II, b. 1635[i], shipboard on voyage to VA; m. 1640[ii] to Martha Filmer .

At this time, I do not know which Thomas this transaction belongs to:  (JPS)

On 22 Aug 1668.  Wm. Shorte , he moving, sells to Thos. Greene  100 acres of land on the S.E. side of Western Branch of Upper Chippoakes Creek, Patent 7 Jan 1649 to Wm. Shorete .  Rec: 4 May 1668.[iii]

3.  Thomas “The Seagull” Green II , son of Thomas  & Martha (unknown) Green  I, b. 1635[iv], shipboard on voyage to VA; m[v], 1640[vi] to Martha Filmer , daughter of Major Henry  & Elizabeth (unknown) Filmer , b. England.

Thomas & Martha (Filmer) Green  II had nine (9) children:

Mary Green , m 1st James Wilkerson ; m 2nd Thomas Walker . 2 children 1st marriage; 2 children 2nd marriage.
3.6.   
Colonel Abram/Abraham[ix] Green , of Amelia Co., VA; married to Unknown . 5 children.
3.7.   
Filmer Green , m. Mary Walker . 6 children.
3.8.   
William Green , of Amelia Co.[x], d. ca. 1747[xi]; m. Amy Clay [xii].
3.9.    Hannah Green , m. James Turner .  2 son who died young.

Thomas Green III

3.2.  Thomas Green III , son of Thomas  & Martha (Filmer) Green  II, b. 1665[xiii], VA[xiv]; m. ca. 1712 to Elizabeth Marston , daughter of Thomas  & Elizabeth (Marvell) Marston , b. 25 Nov 1692[xv]; d. 11 Aug 1759.

Thomas & Elizabeth (Marston) Green  III had six (6) children:

3.1.1.         Lucy Green [xvi], b. 1717[xvii], m. 1735[xviii] to Henry Clay [xix], son of Henry  & Martha (Mitchell) Clay [xx]; m 2nd William Marshall [xxi].
3.1.2.       
Martha ‘Patsy’ Green , b. 1719[xxii]; m. 1741[xxiii] to Charles Clay [xxiv], son of Henry & Martha (Mitchell) Clay [xxv].

Col. Abram/Abraham Green

3.6.  Colonel Abram/Abraham[xxvi] Green , of Amelia Co., VA, son of Thomas  & Martha (Filmer) Green II , d. 1783[xxvii]; married to Unknown. 5 children.

Information on Abraham Green  taken from Prince George County, VA Records 1733-1792, Abstracted and Compiled by Benjamin B. Weisiger, III .  I do not know which Abraham Green that these records belong at this time they are included here for informational purposes. – JPS 10/2001

¯     9 Oct 1733 – John Tally  of Pr. Geo. Co. to Abraham Green  of same, for £20/5 land on lower side of Deep Creek 400 acres, and bounded by Deep Bottom branch and said Tally.  Wit: H. Fox , George Walton , Francis Poythress .  Recorded 9 Oct 1733.  Ann , wife of John Tally, relinquished dower right. [This is from a fragment of a Will & Deed Book for Pr. Geo. Co. covering August to October 1733.  This is the only reference to Abraham Green in Weisiger’s book.]

3.8. William Green , of Amelia Co.[xxxv], son of Thomas  & Martha (Filmer) Green  II, d. ca. 1747[xxxvi]; m. Amy Clay [xxxvii], daughter of Henry  & Martha (Mitchell) Clay [xxxviii], b. 1713[xxxix]. 

William  & Amy (Clay) Green  had children – one of which:

3.8.1. Martha Clay , b. 1734[xl].  The Clay family lived in Henrico & Chesterfield Counties , VA [xli].

3.6.2.  William Wills Green , son of Abram/Abraham Green , d. 1811, Mecklenberg Co., VA m. Martha (unknown)

In 1780 he and his wife made a deed in Mecklenberg, which was witnessed by Lewis  and Joseph Green .

Matthew  & Nancy Green  moved to Meade Co., Kentucky .

Matthew  & Nancy (unknown) Green  had:

3.6.3.1.   Abraham Green , b. 1780; d. 31 Jul 1810, 30 yrs. 7 mos & 26 days; m. 1 Feb 1808 to Ann Lewis , daughter of Capt. William  & Elizabeth Lewis , b. 15 May 1781; d. 22 Aug 1838, aged 57 yrs 3 mo and 7 days.
