BREWER[i]

The name is said to be derived from the Isle of Brewer.

There is much conflicting information regarding William & Deannes (Baker) Brewer ; Thomas Brewer ; John  & Mary ( Groves ) Brewer ; John  & Anne Brewer .  The dates are haywire and I'm not sure I've even got them right.  Information in italic is additional information on the families which surely belongs I'm just not sure how.

William Brewer

William Brewer , b. 1550, Isle of Brewer, England[ii]; d. 24 Jul 1618, Chard, County of Somerset, England; bur. Parish Church, Chard, Somerset, England; m. ca. 1574[iii] to Deannes Baker , daughter of Richard  & Deanes Baker , b. ca. 1520, Crockehem, Somerset, England[iv]; d. 8 Nov 1618, Chard, County of Somerset, England; bur. Parish Church, Somerset, England.

William Brewer  was a physician.   There is a monument to he and his family in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in the village of Chard , Somerset , England .  The mural is the couple facing each other and behind them kneeling in pairs are the children, the boys are behind their father and the girls are behind their mother.  The inscription says: "Here lieth interred (expecting their Savior) the bodyes of Will: Brewer of Chard, Phistian, & Deanes, his wife, who living 40 years happie wedlock, in full age departed this life shee dying 8th November 1614 and hee 24 Jul 1618 havying issue only six sonns & five daughters all men and women grown & all comforts to them[v].

Thomas Brewer  lived in Chard , England later moving to London .

John  & Mary (Faucett) Brewer  left England in 1624 for Virginia .  John Brewer owned a plantation here in Virginia , which was called, "Brewer's Burrough". 

John was active in the colonial government. His service included.

John Brewer II  came to the Virginia Colony in about 1628, at the age of 14 years old. 

He then followed in his father's footsteps
