Issac Pennington

Issac Pennington . Issac Pennington is of Goodstone Manor in England . He was a writer and preacher.  Issac Pennington is the father-in-law of William Penn  of Pennsylvania .  His wife's name is unknown.

As of 6/29/98 I do not know now how Issac Pennington fits into this picture.  It had always been presented as fact that Issac Pennington was the father of Micajah until now.

NEW NOTES Micajah Pennington  was probably born in North Carolina...there are no definitive records yet that prove a birthplace for him or definitive proof of his parentage. Many feel that Benajah Pennington  is his father and circumstantial evidence supports this, however, there is no actual documentation that proves that supposition.

According to the LDS records (specifically the IGI), Rachel Jones  is the daughter of Hezekiah Jones  and Ann Dibble  and was born in Westfield, Hampden Co., MA on 12 Jun 1741 and died 12 Jan 1841 probably in North Carolina. (Please keep in mind that we have no further corroboration for these parents and birthplace)

There is actual documentation of birth dates for Micajah Pennington  and Rachel Jones  as well as their children. A copy of a Bible entry was supplied with a pension application through Elizabeth Pennington  and John Barton .

Although there is a Benajah Pennington  who is a son of Micajah Pennington  and Rachel Jones , he is often confused with another Benajah Pennington. Several members are descended from this "other" Benajah Pennington. He was connected to this family by John French . Gene Pennington , a descendant of Benajah Pennington believes that Benajah is a son of Andrew Pennington , Micajah's brother and they were both sons of Benajah Pennington and Elizabeth. There are probably two Benajah's around the same age...the Benajah born in 1770 shown below and the Benajah born in 1781. The link has neither been proven nor completely disproved.  The Benajah born in 1781 is the probable son of Micajah Pennington  and Rachel.  He shows up in Barren County, KY married to an Elizabeth and is listed in court records as a guardian of an Elizabeth Dobson .  There is no further trace of him. This is an extremely large family with descendants concentrated in areas like Lee Co., VA, Ashe Co., NC, Johnson Co., TN, Claiborne Co., TN, Clay Co., KY, & Perry Co., KY.  From these areas, they have scattered throughout the United States.  Some of the associated families are:  Bowling, Barton, Edwards, Wyatt, Dollar, Johnston/Johnson, Robbins, Parsons, Dickson, and many more

Jesse Bolling O moved from 1790, Wilkes Co., NC - listed as Jesse Bolin, NC to Hawkins co., TN 1793-1795, was baptized by Rev. Andrew Baker  at Blackwater Primitive Baptist Church; was "Primitive" "Hard-shell" Baptist preacher, c. 1795-1800, Old Stony Creek Church, Ft. Blackmore, VA, c. 1800; to Perry Co., KY, by 1810 (No. Fork KY River just above Grapevine Creek, then part of Clay Co.) In 1810, Rev. Dan Duff and his family came from Harlan Co., KY and bought land adjacent to that of Jesse so he and Jesse could work in the church together. About 1835, Dan moved to Quicksand Creek. In 1838, Jesse and his wife also moved to Quicksand Creek near Dan, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Jessee is believed to be buried in one of the small graveyards at the mouth of Meatscaffold Creek on Quicksand Creek. Some of Jesse's brothers and sisters, William and Hannah (Mrs. Solomon Osborne ) also lived in Clay Co., KY at one time. James, Jesse's brother and his children settled in Clay Co.
