Tobias Smyth & Mary McDonald

Tobias Smyth, 3^rd son of Hans Jurgen  & Maria (Stalcop) Smidt , b. 16 Mar 1725, New Castle, New Castle Co., DE; d. Nov 1781, age 56, Washington Co., VA; m. 1748 to Mary McDonald , daughter of Bryan  & Catherine (Robinson) McDonald , b. 19 Jan 1730, Augusta Co., VA; d. 1808, age 78, Washington Co., VA.

Tobias  once was a hatter and owned a plantation in the Greenfield-Amsterdam community in New Castle , Delaware .

Court minutes on motion of Mary Smith  and Jonas Smith  states that administration was granted them on the Estate of Tobias Smith , deceased, giving Bond and Security.  Whereupon they, together with James Dysart  and Edward Smith , their securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the sum of 500 pounds Specie for the faithful administration of said decedents Estate.

Tobias  & Mary (McDonald) Smyth  had eight (8) children[i]:

2.       George Smyth Sr ., b. 1754; d. 1809; m 1^st to Rebecca Unknown ; m 2^nd Sarah Catherine Huffaker  
3.       Catherine Smyth , b. 1756; d. 1841; m to Elisha McNew .  
4.       Mary Elizabeth Smyth , b. 1757; d. 1846; m to Ezekiel Kelly .  
5.       John Smyth , b. 1759; d. as a young man.  
6.       Mary Smyth , b. 1760  
7.       Edward ‘Edmon’ Smyth , b. 1762; d. 1852; m to Hannah Crabtree  
8.       Rebecca Smyth , b. 1775; d. 1864; m to Job Crabtree  Sr .
